Chaos in Austria: Ronaldo Threatens Police Amid Fan Frenzy
Cristiano Ronaldo's facing unprecedented crisis at Al Nassr’s pre season camp in Saalfelden, Austria where fan hysteria's spiraled out of control prompting the Portuguese icon to threaten calling the police.
According to Austria’s Kronen Zeitung hundreds of fans have been swarming the Brandelhof Hotel daily hoping to catch glimpse of the 5 time Ballon d’or winner.
Many guests reportedly booked rooms solely to be near the star turning the once tranquil resort into hotspot of chaos.
The situation escalated when group of children staying at the hotel breached the private floor housing Ronaldo’s suite and knocked on his door.
Ronaldo visibly angry reportedly opened the door and loudly threatened to call the police.
The scene around Al Nassr’s training sessions has become increasingly volatile. On Saturday Sadio Mane’s black Mercedes was forced to stop abruptly after fans rushed onto the road nearly causing accident in slippery, rain soaked conditions.
Even hotel staff were caught off guard. "We weren’t prepared when the children got upstairs" admitted one security guard.
Some parents expressed disappointment:
"We spent 1000 euro to stay here and still didn’t get single photo or autograph" said one guest.
Others were more fortunate a few relatives of organizers secured private access to Ronaldo and some fans managed to get autographs in hotel corridors.
On Sunday night Ronaldo finally made public gesture stepping outside to sign footballs, jerseys and car plates.
Emotional fans were left in tears.
Hotel owner Alexander Strobl warned that changes must be made if the team returns:
"If they come back next year we’ll have to rethink everything from scratch" he told Krone.
Strobl also criticized the club’s approach saying Al Nassr refused to book exclusive accommodations despite knowing Ronaldo’s presence would attract crowds.
