The Preston-born player spent two seasons with Toulouse, featuring 66 times in total scoring eight goals and making five assists. He has now made the swap to Rennes where he has signed until 2031.

"There's been a lot of talk about my signing with Rennes these past few weeks," Cresswell said on joining Les Rouge et Noirs.

"Finally arriving here and making this project a reality is fantastic. I'm really very happy. I had two wonderful years in Toulouse, I couldn't have hoped for better, but football is cyclical and the prospect of playing in European competition was a very good reason. The club has an interesting project and I think it will be an excellent team this year. I hope we'll achieve great things."
