Charlton Athletic defender Charlotte Newsham has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

The 26-year-old defender joined Charlton Athletic in summer 2024 after leaving former club Sheffield United. The player has gone on to play an important role for Karen Hills’ side. Newsham made 21 appearances for The Addicks in Barclays WSL2 last season, helping the club to win a long-awaited promotion to the top tier.

Newsham sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in May and she will not return to fitness until early 2027. Charlton Athletic have provided their full backing by agreeing extended terms with the player for the upcoming campaign.

After signing on again at The Valley, Newsham said “I’m really happy. I’ve really enjoyed my time here over the past two seasons, so I’m delighted to sign a new contract here.

“It’s going really smoothly at the minute [in rehabilitation], which is good, but I’m still quite early on. As things go, so far, it’s gone really well, so hopefully that continues and I can be back as soon as possible.”

Further Charlton Athletic squad news will be announced by the club in due course.
