FLW takes a look at the six Charlton Athletic players who are currently set to be out of contract in 2025.

Charlton Athletic have some big decisions to make regarding the futures of six players who are set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

The Addicks are currently mid-table in League One, but with only four points separating them from the top-six, it is too early to know whether they will mount a promotion push during the remainder of the season, which could impact the decision-making process when it comes to renewing expiring contracts.

On-loan Luton Town midfielder Allan Campbell is set to leave at the end of his temporary spell in SE7, while Dan Potts' short-term contract is due to expire at the end of 2024, leaving six permanently contracted players who will be out of contract next year if nothing changes.

Let's take a look at which Charlton players are due to be out of contract in the summer of 2025, and the decisions that are facing the club.

Chuks Aneke

Physical centre-forward Chuks Aneke has been plagued by injuries for much of his time at The Valley, although he has often been fit enough to be used as a highly-effective super-sub during Nathan Jones' tenure.

However, at the age of 31, and considering his injury record, there is no guarantee that he will be offered a new deal before his current contract expires next year.

What the ex-Arsenal man is however is a good impact player at times - whether that is enough for Nathan Jones to want to keep him around for though is another matter.

Lloyd Jones

Vice-captain Lloyd Jones has been impressive at the heart of Charlton's defence so far this season, and his recent absence through injury has not helped the Addicks during a run of difficult fixtures in League One.

The ex-Liverpool youngster previously spoke about his desire to sign a new contract in an interview with London News Online.

“Hopefully if I keep putting in good performances and focus on my football then a new contract will be here. I’ll have to wait and see," stated the centre-back.

Thierry Small

Left-back Thierry Small has played second fiddle to Josh Edwards for most of the 2024/25 campaign so far, although he did provide an assist during Charlton's victory over Chelsea Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old was offered a new 'long-term' contract earlier this year, but it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal before his current one runs out next summer, and with his game-time dwindling compared to last season, he may not want to remain in south London.

Tennai Watson

Tennai Watson has provided cover for Kayne Ramsay for the majority of this season, and unfortunately for him, having been given a start against Wrexham last weekend due to Ramsay's injury, he was forced off inside the first five minutes of the game with a knock of his own.

He will hope that he can return to fitness as soon as possible and prove that he deserves a new contract before his existing deal expires at the end of the season.

Tayo Edun

Left-back Tayo Edun is behind both Small and Edwards in the pecking order, meaning that he is yet to make an appearance in League One this term.

It would not be a huge surprise if the 26-year-old moved on in January, and even if that does not happen, he will likely depart at the end of his contract next summer, despite there being an option to extend his deal by a further year.
