‘Charly’ Alcaraz has compared the backing he receives at Everton with the atmosphere he experienced at Flamengo, praising the club’s support.
"Honestly, when they sing my name even before I step on the pitch, I get goosebumps, because it is something that does not happen to every player. It is really special. Everton fans are very different because they are brilliant. They are always singing, they are always there," he said, speaking to Everton’s website.
Flamengo signed Alcaraz in August 2024 for R$ 110.6 million, then loaned him out in February 2025. In May 2025 Everton triggered their option to buy and he departed the Rio club.
The Argentine featured in 19 matches for Flamengo, scoring three goals and supplying two assists. He left after around six months as he was not in Filipe Luís’ plans.
Now a substitute for the English side, he offered the comparison while reflecting on his current role.
Flamengo face Lanús on Thursday 26 at 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã in the Recopa Sudamericana second leg.
