Football has been left stunned after Lamisha Musonda, 33, the brother of Charly Musonda, revealed last weekend that he is critically ill and has only a few days to live. The player said in a post that he is fighting for his life.

He explained the message on Instagram also addressed his long absence from public view. The nature of his illness has not been disclosed out of respect for privacy.

Musonda reflected on the toll of the past two years and expressed gratitude to those who have stood by him.

Lamisha ended his playing career in 2020 after spells with Llagostera, Palamós and Mazembe. He also played for KV Mechelen and represented Belgium Under-21s.

His younger brother, Charly Musonda Jr, played for Betis, making 24 appearances and scoring once, then joined Levante in 2022/23, where he featured around 20 times.

All three brothers moved from Anderlecht to Chelsea in 2012, with Lamisha seen as a promising midfielder on arrival. Messages of support, including from Levante fans, have multiplied in recent days.
