Hull City were two goals down after just 10 minutes at home to Preston North End but managed to earn a draw with Ryan Giles once again pulling the strings after linking again with Oli McBurnie.

Giles, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough, has made five assists in the Championship so far this season and all of them have been in the service of the Scottish striker.

McBurnie has been an astute signing by the Tigers after his 2024/25 campaign in Spain with Las Palmas. The 29-year-old is now topping the Championship goalscoring charts after last night's brace. Meanwhile, partner-in-crime Giles tops the assists charts in the Championship and the entire top four tiers alongside Chesterfield's Liam Mandeville.

Indeed, right now McBurnie is top of the charts for goal involvements across all domestic competitions so far this season.

McBurnie's seven goals (six in the league, one in the League Cup) and three assists puts him top of the charts with 10 goal involvements in total, that's even more than Erling Haaland on nine (eight goals, one assist).

The Hull City man will be looking to add to his tally this Saturday when his side welcome former club Sheffield United. During his stint with the Blades, McBurnie scored 29 goals in 159 games, but with Giles providing the assists he may soon eclipse that total with his new side.
