Bromley's 1-1 draw at Newport last night was probably not the result that leapt off the page across Leagues One and Two last night - but it marked an important event in terms of the EFL's goal charts this season.
After falling behind to Cameron Evans' opener for the Exiles, the Greater London side rallied in the second half and levelled on 72 minutes through Michael Cheek - who hit his 19th League Two goal of the 2024/25 campaign to move clear as the top scorer in the EFL this season.
After sealing promotion from the National League last season, the Ravens have adapted well to life in the EFL and their veteran striker is already closing in on the 23 goals he hit in the fifth tier last term.
Now 33-years-old, Cheek was prolific at non-league level for years, but his exploits this season have proven beyond doubt that he can cut the mustard at League Two level.
In fact, if you throw in Cheek's seven assists this term, only Liverpool's Mo Salah (27G, 17A) has been involved in more goals across the top tiers this season than the Bromley man.
