FC Bayern’s dramatic 4:3 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League is not only making headlines in sporting terms, but now also has legal repercussions. After the acclaimed winning goal in the Allianz Arena, a serious incident occurred which is now being dealt with by the police

In the euphoria of the late victory, several photographers who were in the area of the advertising boards were overrun. Particularly dramatic: a photographer from the Reuters news agency lost consciousness in the commotion and required medical treatment

Another photographer was also injured and suffered a laceration to her head. Both incidents highlight the risks of such uncontrolled cheering scenes

Police launch investigation

The Munich police have now opened an investigation, with police spokesman Christian Drexler explaining that this was done „ex officio“ – triggered by the media coverage

The investigation is being conducted on suspicion of bodily harm. The explosive fact is that neither FC Bayern nor the Red Cross initially reported the incident. The photographer involved has also not yet contacted the authorities himself

The police are now analyzing video footage from the stadium in order to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and identify possible perpetrators

Fans show remorse

Unauthorized access to the interior is strictly prohibited and is the responsibility of the event organizer and the stadium operator. The fact that the fans still managed to reach these areas raises questions about the security organization

Apparently, the security staff were unable to prevent the intrusion during the emotional final phase – a circumstance that is likely to be dealt with internally

According to reports, there have already been talks between FC Bayern and the affected Ultra groups after the incident, during which the fans are said to have regretted their behavior and apologized for the injuries caused

Despite this remorse, the incident remains serious. While an unforgettable Champions League evening was celebrated in sporting terms, what happened off the pitch is now causing unpleasant repercussions – with possible legal consequences.
