In a recent report, Sport revealed that Chelsea are big admirers of Real Madrid left-back Alvaro Carreras. It has been mentioned that the Blues are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Spanish talent this off-season.

Carreras’ Impressive Form In La Liga

Carreras enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club after he produced a handful of impressive displays for them in La Liga. The 23-year-old scored two goals and picked up three assists in 40 appearances for Real Madrid last season in all competitions.

The Spanish talent is currently among the best full-backs in La Liga. Hence, the Blues would do well to lure him to Stamford Bridge this off-season.

His current contract at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2031, which could make it tough for Chelsea to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Will Carreras Be A Good Fit For Chelsea?

Carreras is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to make some crucial interceptions for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a decent crosser as well from the left flank.

The Spanish sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Carreras mainly operates as a left-back but can also serve as a centre-back if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to sign him this summer.

We can expect Carreras to enhance the quality of Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 23, Carreras has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good fit for Chelsea’s needs in the long run. All in all, Alonso would be wise to step up his efforts to land the Spaniard before the end of this transfer window.
