In a recent report, German news outlet Fussball Daten claimed that Chelsea are in the running for Bayern Munich playmaker Lennart Karl. It is believed that the Blues would have to compete with Manchester City and Arsenal in the race to land the German prospect.
Karl has managed to break out as a first-team starter for Bayern this season and deserves credit for putting in a few productive displays for them in the Bundesliga. The German talent has banged in seven goals and grabbed three assists in 29 matches for the Munich outfit in this campaign so far across all fronts.
The 17-year-old has caught the eye at times on the offensive end of the field as he is averaging 3.20 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has kept 46.4% of his attempts on target (stats via fbref.com).
Karl is under contract at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Blues to sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.

Karl is proficient at engineering a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The German talent has already added a handful of goals and assists to his game this season. Karl is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also adopt as a right-winger if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to snap him up next summer.
Karl would no doubt enhance the quality of Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior’s attack in the long run. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the West London club in the coming seasons.
At 17, the future looks quite promising for Karl as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Rosenior should focus on stepping up his efforts to sign him later this year.
