In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus revealed that Chelsea are keen on recruiting Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It has been claimed that the Blues are eyeing a move to bring the English talent to Stamford Bridge next year.

Wharton’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Wharton has enjoyed a good run of form at the London club this season as he has put in a few impressive displays at the heart of their midfield. The 22-year-old has secured one assist in seven matches for Crystal Palace this season in various competitions.

The English talent is currently among the most talented central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, it is no wonder that the Blues are hoping to land him next year.

His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to sign him on a cut-price deal this winter or at the end of this campaign.

Will Wharton Be A Good Fit For Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso?

Wharton loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He usually clears the danger when required and is a good passer as well from midfield.

The English talent can strike the ball well from long range and is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. Wharton mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea.

We can expect Wharton to bring more quality and depth to Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge.

At 22, the future looks quite bright for Wharton as long as he continues to improve with each year. Hence, he would be a great fit for Chelsea’s needs in the long run.
