In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on West Ham United talent Matues Fernandes. It has been claimed that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the Portuguese midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Fernandes is having a decent campaign at the London club as he has produced a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net four times and secured three assists in 32 matches for the Hammers this season in all competitions.
The Portuguese talent is currently among the most gifted young midfielders in the Premier League. Thus, it is no wonder that Chelsea are hoping to get a deal done for him this off-season.
His current contract at the London Stadium will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for the Blues to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Fernandes is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a good passer as well.
The Portuguese sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. Fernandes is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder if required. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea.
Fernandes would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Liam Rosenior’s midfield department. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.
At 21, Fernandes has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is good enough to help Chelsea compete for a top-four spot in the Premier League next season. Therefore, Rosenior would be wise to go for a player of Fernandes’ skill set and potential in the upcoming transfer period.
