In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea are locked in a three-way battle for Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix. It has been mentioned that the Blues would have to rival Arsenal and Real Madrid in the race to sign the French centre-back this off-season.

Lacroix’s Solid Campaign In The Premier League

The 26-year-old had an impressive campaign at the London club as he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. Lacroix played in 55 matches for Crystal Palace last season, scoring three goals and grabbing three assists across all fronts.

The French sensation is currently one of the most consistent centre-backs in the Premier League. Therefore, the Blues would do well to get a deal done for him later this year.

Lacroix’s current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to land him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Should Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso Snap Lacroix Up This Summer?

Lacroix loves a tackle and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.90m, the French sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. Lacroix has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Stamford Bridge if the Blues manage to win the race for his services later this year.

We can expect him to bring more bite and steel to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s backline. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the West London club in the coming seasons.

At 26, Lacroix has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for Chelsea to consider in this summer transfer window. He will also help the London giants challenge across all competitions over the next few years. Hence, Alonso would be wise to try everything in his power to snap him up this off-season.
