In a recent report, talkSPORT revealed that Chelsea are monitoring the progress of Red Bull Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. It has been mentioned that the Blues would have to rival Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign the Ivory Coast wide player this summer.

Diomande’s Impressive Rise In German Football

Diomande has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the German club as he has managed to produce a string of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 19-year-old has scored nine goals and earned six assists in 24 matches for RB Leipzig this season across all competitions.

The Ivory Coast talent is currently among the best young wingers in the Bundesliga. Thus, it is no wonder that Chelsea are among the clubs keeping tabs on his progress in Germany.

His current deal at the Red Bull Arena will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for the Blues to snap him up on the cheap later this year.

Is Diomande A Good Fit For Chelsea Boss Liam Rosenior?

Diomande is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has done well to add a handful of goals and assists to his game this season.

The Ivory Coast sensation is primarily a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Blues manage to bring him on board this summer.

We can expect Diomande to add more firepower to Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior’s attack. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.

At 19, the future looks quite bright for Diomande as long as he continues to improve with each year. Hence, he would be a great fit for Chelsea’s needs in the long run. With all things considered, Rosenior would be wise to go all out to land him this off-season.
