Chelsea youngster Jesse Derry could be a “good backup option” for Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old winger came through Chelsea’s academy and made his senior debut in the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Hull City.

The exciting attacker also made his first Premier League start against Nottingham Forest towards the end of last season.

The youngster has since signed a new contract that will keep him at Chelsea until 2032.

Bayern Munich eye move for Jesse Derry?

After signing Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, Bayern are now focusing on offloading a few players to make room for new additions.

Christian Falk has exclusively told CFBayern Insider that he has not heard anything about Derry at Säbener Straße, but that does not rule out the youngster as a potential option for the club.

Instead, Derry could be a “good backup option” for Bayern if they decide to pursue a deal.

Falk said: “To be honest, I haven’t yet heard Jesse Derry’s name at Säbener Straße. But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t be an option for Bayern Munich. I looked into the 19-year-old winger, and he’s very interesting for FC Bayern, especially given he wouldn’t be so expensive.

“He could be a good backup option. But, at the moment, in the offence, Bayern have their solutions. If Derry is cheap and wants to come to Bayern Munich, officials could point to the fact that the club experienced a lot of success with the last young player to come from Chelsea, Jamal Musiala.

“If they have a chance to have such a talent for a small amount of money, I think Bayern would have to discuss this. But I haven’t heard anything concrete on the subject as of now.”

Jesse Derry could be set for loan exit?

According to a report from BBC Sport, Derry is close to joining Sporting Lisbon on loan.

The move would be a straight loan with no option to buy, as Chelsea consider the youngster a key part of their long-term plans following his breakthrough campaign last season.

Chelsea have already signed Geovany Quenda from the Portuguese club in a £40m deal this summer.

With Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho already available to Xabi Alonso, a loan move elsewhere would make sense for the youngster.
