Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior says midfielder Romeo Lavia still has some “hurdles to clear” before making his first-team comeback.

The midfielder has returned to partial training having been out since November in what has been another injury hit campaign for the Belgium international.

“In terms of Romeo, in his recent history it’s not been what he’s wanted.

“He has the potential to be a world-class midfielder.

“We need to make sure when he’s back he’s fully fit. He needs to clear a few hurdles before he fully trains, but I’m very excited to work with him.”

Cole Palmer is set to make his return to the Chelsea squad, however, having missed the win over Crystal Palace due to his fitness continuing to be managed.

The Blues boss also dismissed any claims that Palmer is unsettled at the club as “not true” and insists he will not be leaving Chelsea.
