It’s close to kick off at Wembley in the FA Cup semi final where Chelsea face Leeds, and Blues boss Calum McFarlane has just done his flash interview where he’s explained how tricky it’s been for him and his squad this week:
“It’s been difficult, it’s never nice when a manager loses his job… you have to adapt and you have to be ready for a huge challenge,” the caretaker coach said.
“We’ve tried to give them what they need to be ready for this game, technically, tactically, psychologically. So it’s just about getting them in the right headspace, getting a clear gameplan in place and hopefully going out and executing it well.
There was one thing he was able to give a more definitive answer about – the idea that this was some sort of audition for him to show what he can do as a coachL
“No not really, it’s more about doing a job for the club and the players and being there to give them what they need,” the young coach retorted bluntly.
Chelsea’s team news today had some interesting factors – the return of their best striker is a huge boost.
Cole Palmer has to step up today, and his manager has made it clear that his priority is to get his star into good positions.
