Blues continue summer youth drive with talks over trio of talented defenders, with Karim Adeyemi also linked
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Basel defender Renato Veiga, as they press ahead with another transfer recruitment drive.
The Blues have agreed a fee of around £11.8million for the 20-year-old from Portugal, who is due in London for a medical before signing a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are also in talks over deals for Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino and Atlanta United left-back Caleb Wiley, both 19.
Veiga is a versatile defender who can play at both centre-back and full-back, while he has also played as a holding midfielder.

He played 26 times for Basel last season and it is thought Chelsea will look to use him as an inverted full-back.
Wiley has played for the United States and been tipped for a bright future.
Reports in America claim Atlanta want close to £8m for Wiley, who is set to be sent straight out on loan to Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.
Anselmino is another promising youngster who has just broken into the first team at Boca Juniors.
He is able to play in defence or midfield and Boca are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £17m.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for winger Karim Adeyemi, who impressed during Borussia Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final last season.
