Marc Guiu is the first of many deadline day departures for Chelsea.

Marc Guiu has completed a permanent move away from Chelsea after joining Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

The 20-year-old's summer move to Germany was confirmed on deadline day, with Guiu signing a five-year contract until June 2031.

Guiu has left Chelsea after two years at the club following his £5 million move from Barcelona in the summer of 2024.

He made 29 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring eight goals, and was part of the Blues' squad that won the Conference League and Club World Cup.

RB Leipzig are believed to have completed a €16m deal, including add-ons, with Chelsea retaining a significant sell-on clause. This comes after Chelsea were prepared to lower their summer valuation of £25m to resolve Guiu's future.

It ensures Chelsea have made a significant profit on the young forward despite Guiu, who attracted interest from Napoli, not getting regular game time at Stamford Bridge.

Guiu will wear the number nine shirt at RB Leipzig.

Chelsea's farewell note to the Spaniard read: 'Everyone at Chelsea would like to thank Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him every success as he begins the next chapter of his career with RB Leipzig.'

Guiu's departure marks the completion of Chelsea's striker exodus

It's been a busy summer in the attacking areas for Chelsea as they looked to reshape their front line.

Joao Pedro has been joined by Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha - the three chosen by Alonso and Chelsea to lead the Blues into the 2026-27 season. Joao Pedro and Welbeck have already scored their first goals this season.

It meant Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, David Datro Fofana and Guiu were all surplus to requirements and allowed to leave the club before the end of the window.

Ahead of the summer transfer window closing, Chelsea have managed to sell all four strikers on permanent deals to recoup hefty fees.

Jackson departed for Aston Villa after a deal worth up to £65 million was agreed. Delap joined Nottingham Forest for £45m plus £5m in add-ons. Meanwhile, Datro Fofana left for Swiss side Servette in a deal worth an initial €2m.

The four sales could see Chelsea net around £130m, a healthy sum to help balance both the finances and squad.

It also ensures Alonso doesn't need to manage as many unhappy stars over game time, particularly since Chelsea are only competing in the Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season after missing out on European qualification.
