Chelsea will not be in their traditional colours for west London derby

Chelsea have confirmed their new Nike away kit will make its competitive debut against Brentford.

From Xabi Alonso being appointed manager to the club signing the likes of Morgan Rogers, Valentin Barco, Danny Welbeck, Maxence Lacroix, Geovany Quenda, Emiliano Martinez and Pep Chavarria, it was a busy summer for the Blues.

Of the new signings that did not go out on loan before the transfer window closed, only Jordan Henderson, Marco Palestra and Emmanuel Emegha are yet to make their Chelsea bows.

That could change when the Blues face Brentford in a west London derby on Friday night, with Henderson and Palestra spotted in training this week.

What is for certain is Chelsea’s brand new Nike away kit for the season will be worn for the first time in a competitive match at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Chelsea will be hopeful their new away kit is not a bad omen as they wore it in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham in pre-season, with Estevao scoring their only goal at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Alonso’s side head into the Brentford game on the back of dropping points to Arsenal and Hull in their previous two Premier League outings, conceding two goals in both matches.

It is the Blues’ final fixture before the extended international break, after which they host Bournemouth, Tottenham and Manchester United, with trips to Merseyside to face Everton and Liverpool (in the Carabao Cup) during the month of October.
