The Aston Villa goalkeeper’s future at Villa Park has become uncertain after the signing of Zion Suzuki from Parma, with a view to the Japanese goalkeeper becoming the new number one.

Even more question marks were raised regarding Martinez’s future after Marco Bizot was handed a start in Villa’s opening Premier League game at Brighton, where Unai Emery’s side fell to a heavy defeat, in which they conceded four first-half goals.

Martinez had been linked with a move to Juventus earlier in the window, but a deal was not agreed.

Robert Sanchez started Chelsea’s opener at Fulham on Monday night, but made a crucial errors for both of the home side’s goals, with his position as the number one at Stamford Bridge being questioned by many.

With the representatives of Martinez offering the player to the Blues, it remains to be seen whether they will decide to pursue the signing of the Argentine, or continue to put their trust in Sanchez.
