Chelsea are searching for left-backs after selling Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £52m, and Leeds United’s Gabriel Gudmundsson has emerged as a candidate.

Expressen reports that the Swede is among several options on Chelsea’s radar as they look to reinforce the left-back position. Chelsea were assessing the role even before Cucurella departed and could add two left-sided players this summer.

Gudmundsson joined Leeds from Lille for £10.5m last summer and quickly impressed with powerful runs down the flank. He is currently at the World Cup with Graham Potter’s Sweden.

At Elland Road he is the undisputed first choice, and Leeds are not planning to source a replacement, only potential cover.

A switch to Stamford Bridge could reduce his minutes, with Chelsea having completed a £43m deal for Marco Palestra and likely to pursue a headline left-back. Gudmundsson might find himself as back-up.

Leeds viewed his initial fee as a bargain due to his contract situation. After a full Premier League season and his rise with Sweden, the club would be reluctant to sell for under £25m, and a price near £30m would surely be requested.
