Chelsea are considering the recall of Senegalese centre-back Mamadou Sarr (20) as they are yet to reach a breakthrough in their talks with Stade Rennais over Jérémy Jacquet, according to RMC Sport. Sarr earned a move to Chelsea last summer over an eight-year contract, but he was loaned out to his former club – BlueCo-owned Strasbourg – for the 2025-2026 campaign.
Sarr’s performances, both for club and country, have not gone unnoticed, and the fact his former Strasbourg head coach – Liam Rosenior – is now at the helm of Stamford Bridge could facilitate his move back to West London.
Chelsea are still in the market for a centre-back before Monday’s deadline. The Blues remain keen to sign Jacquet to send him back on loan at his formative Rennes side to see out the season. However, Les Rouge et Noir want to make Jacquet their club-record sale, which means Chelsea are expected to up their bid for the France U21 international.
