Young stars depart on loan in search of regular game time

Chelsea have confirmed another two departures following the close of the summer transfer window.

It was a hectic Deadline Day for the Blues, who sold Enzo Fernandez for a British record-equalling fee of £125million to Manchester City, but they missed out on signing a replacement.

They had a deal in place to sign Lamine Camara from Monaco, Standard Sport reported previously, but complications grew after the Ligue 1 side pulled out of the agreement at the 11th hour.

It left Xabi Alonso’s side without a replacement for their departed No8, and there were myriad other departures from Stamford Bridge on Tuesday as the window slammed shut.

Marc Guiu left permanently for RB Leipzig, while Robert Sanchez was loaned to Como after the signing of Emi Martinez from Aston Villa.

Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo moved north to sign for Tottenham on loan and permanently respectively, while Dario Essugo was shipped out to sister club Strasbourg.

Business continued into Wednesday, with the Blues confirming that two academy prospects had joined Celtic on season-long loan deals.

They were Landon Emenalo and Shim Mheuka, with the pair looking for more regular senior minutes.

As such, they both moved north of the border to the Scottish Premiership, joining Martin O’Neill’s Bhoys.

Celtic already sit top of the Scottish top flight with four wins from their opening four matches, and they swept past Aberdeen with no issues on Wednesday evening at Celtic Park.

Emenalo had previously been linked with a switch to the Hoops, but there had been concerns about the left-back’s fitness.

That, however, has been overlooked, and he moved to Glasgow regardless, while Mheuka, who captained the Blues’ Under-21 side last term, has penned a new deal at Stamford Bridge before making the move.
