Chelsea and sister club Strasbourg are in quite the pickle in terms of their strikers.

To recap – Strasbourg have Joaquin Panichelli, who has had a great season but has just done his ACL and will be out for the rest of 2025. They also have Emmanuel Emegha, who is joining Chelsea this summer. They also currently have David Datro Fofana on loan from the Blues.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have Joao Pedro, backed up by Liam Delap (who has had a poor season) and Marc Guiu who has barely played in his two years at the club.

One Twitter account suggested that, with Emegha coming to Chelsea, the Blues could send Guiu AND Delap the other way on loan next season to help Strasbourg out while Panichelli recovers.

Striker moves on the cards for both BlueCo clubs

It’s pure speculation of course, but it’s interesting to consider. We suspect that the Guiu move might work out. The player would probably agree to it and Strasbourg could benefit from it – although frankly they’d see the former Barcelona man as a major downgrade from Panichelli and even Emegha.

As for Delap, given he’s been a Premier League regular before, we suspect he will want to stay put and try to make an impact there, even if Chelsea aren’t keen on keeping him in their squad. Strasbourg might feel like too much of a step down.

What’s for sure is that both clubs have a lot of business to be done in attacking areas this summer.
