Chelsea earn all three points after four-game winless run

First half goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto gave Chelsea and well-earned win at home to Everton.

Enzo Maresca was looking for an improved performance after going four games without a win including the midweek Champions League loss to Atalanta. That's exactly what the Italian got with his team recording a mostly comfortable 2-0 win.

Everton started slowly and weren't helped in the 16th minute when former Chelsea man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has been in good form as of late, was forced off with Carlos Alcaraz taking his spot.

Not long after that Palmer put his team ahead with his first goal at home this season after being played through by Malo Gusto before firing past Jordan Pickford.

After setting one up, Gusto put his side ahead with just over 45 minutes gone following good work on the right from Pedro Neto.

In truth, Chelsea should have had a bigger winning margin. Indeed, had Alejandro Garnacho managed to take any of his three big chances they would have done. The Argentinian was poor in front of goal and certainly had no excuse for not converting when presented with a gift of a back pass in the first half.

Most importantly, that win moves Chelsea into the top four for now while Everton remain eighth.
