Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a potential four year ban with his B sample expected back this month according to Ben Jacobs.

The Blues were rocked by the news that Mudryk had failed a drug test and the 24-year-old hasn’t featured since their 2-0 win against Heidenheim in the Conference League in November.

The winger currently isn’t allowed at the club’s Cobham training ground, with Chelsea said to be doing everything they can to support the Ukraine international.

Mudryk B sample expected back this month

Mudryk’s absence is the latest chapter in what’s been a difficult time for the Ukrainian following his big money move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for an initial £62.5m.

He’s struggled to establish himself in the first team and despite glimpses of the obvious talent he displays, the Blues haven’t seen it on anywhere near a consistent basis.

Enzo Maresca has publicly criticised the winger this season, but there were clear signs Mudryk was improving before news of his failed drugs test emerged.

The Ukrainian was recently seen in Saudi Arabia watching the boxing between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, with Maresca saying it was good for Mudryk to take his mind off his current situation.

The Blues are still waiting for the B sample to come back and Jacobs has provided an update on Mudryk’s situation.

“Mudryk’s B Sample is expected back in January and, if positive, the Ukrainian could face a four-year ban,” he wrote in his GIVEMESPORT column.

“Chelsea continue to support Mudryk, but a lengthy suspension may force them to consider a new left-sided wide player in 2025.”

The Blues are believed to still be tracking Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, whilst Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is another name being monitored.

Chelsea also have exciting Brazilian talent Estevao Willian joining after the Club World Cup, but before any action is taken the club need to decide what to do with Mudryk once all the results are back.
