However, another Como player flying under the radar is Jacobo Ramon. The defender, since joining the club from Real Madrid, has become a key component in Cesc Fabregas’ backline, impressing onlookers with his defensive prowess.

Chelsea eye January move for Ramon

According to the English news outlet Daily Mail (h/t AS), Chelsea are among the clubs interested in the services of Jacobo Ramon.

The Premier League giants, under the leadership of new manager Liam Rosenior, are looking to shore up their options in the defensive unit this month.

Ramon, to that end, has emerged as the ideal option thanks to his age-profile and rapid rise to prominence at Como.

Real Madrid will have something to say

Real Madrid, though, will play a key role in dictating the future of Jacobo Ramon as they still hold a buyback clause in Ramon’s contract at Como.

That means the Spanish giants can simply re-sign the player for a fee of just around €8 million and loan him back to Como during the remainder of the season.

However, Real Madrid’s bigger plan is to ensure the return of Ramon to Santiago Bernabeu next season, as he has been identified as the ideal replacement for David Alaba.

The Austrian veteran is set to leave the club at the end of the season, paving the way for someone like Ramon to come in and compete with the likes of Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen and Raul Asencio for a place in the first team next season.
