There was a lot of debate about how the Blues would set up for this one – but even the wildest predictions didn’t having the Blues going to a back 3, with one recognised central defender on the pitch.

It worked well initially, with the visitors looking confident and scoring the opener from a penalty. But after that Napoli woke up, and they’ve turned things around. Fans on social media aren’t happy. A team that was unbeaten is now losing and looking pretty lost out there.

As many of them have said – any game Rosenior has had so far was the moment to experiment more than this. A must win, away game in the Champions League, in Naples? Against Antonio Conte? It felt like a mad decision from the moment we saw the teamsheets, and it’s proving to be just that so far.

Still, the good news is that there is still 45 minutes to change things. At half time, we could easily take off Malo Gusto for a centre back and switch Reece James centrally. It will be very interesting to see what team comes out for the second period.

In other news…

The team news for the game had some interesting twists to it – a new formation for the Blues. As you can see above, it simply hasn’t worked out.

Malo Gusto spoke a little about tonight’s game too – he pointed out it’s likely to be a thriller simply because both teams need to win and don’t gain anything from a draw, an unusual setup for a group stage game.
