Chelsea's situation could descend into veritable bedlam as supporters mobilise to protest against co-owner Behdad Eghbali and the wider club hierarchy.

Per the Athletic, fans are now of the belief that the capital club have "failed to meet the standards" required in the wake of watching Enzo Maresca's time at Stamford Bridge come to an end.

The planned protest is headed up by a group titled 'Not a Project CFC' and is set to take place on 17 January ahead of the Blues' derby meeting with Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

As things stand, Chelsea appear primed to name current Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior as Maresca's successor on the back of his body of work with the BlueCo-owned side in France.

Links with the former Premier League player has seen backlash from fans on account of the 41-year-old's lack of experience at the highest level.

Chelsea currently sits 5th in the Premier League table after their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth just before the New Year, and are 15 points off the pace set by league-leaders Arsenal.
