Chelsea are battling back into the picture in the Premier League, securing a 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday evening thanks to a second half blitz which pushed them into third in the Premier League.

Things are still incredibly tight of course – we’re just a single set of results from dropping to 10th, and potentially two results from being in 13th, incredibly.

Regardless, it’s always nice to go into an international break with a good league position, no matter how established it is. The vibes are positive at Stamford Bridge after a win and a bump in the standings, and things could get even better in the following fortnight.

We’ve got a two week break where a lot of our starters can rest and recover – Enzo Fernandez has already pulled out of Argentina duty and we expect there will be a couple of other names in similar situations by the end of the next couple of days, as players report to their international camps and are assessed for minor issues by their country’s medical teams.

We’d love to see Moises Caicedo and Reece James pull out, but we suspect they’ll play for Ecuador and England respectively. Marc Cucurella is another player who has racked up a lot of minutes, as has Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto.

We’d be amazed if at least one player from that group doesn’t end up with two weeks off.

In other news…

Chelsea have had some big questions up top while players have been injured, suspended and otherwise absent. With most of them now back, we can see which direction Enzo Maresca is taking this team.

Pedro Neto is one of the senior players in this group now and he delivered like one with a great outing against his former team Wolves. He talked through the reasons he thought his team had been able to get the win.
