Chelsea are being wildly linked with a move to re-sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle, just two years after they sold their academy graduate.

Hall is making waves out there right now in the world of football, and any Chelsea fans who watched him come up through the academy and then into the first team will tell you that comes as no surprise to them at all.

We all knew that Hall had all the credentials to make it at the very top, and it now looks likely that he will go with England to the World Cup in the summer due to his fine form of late.

Bursting onto the scene with Newcastle after Chelsea seemingly gave up on him and allowed him to be sold to another Premier League side, is going to hurt. But will they try and sign him back?

They’ve sort of been linked with him today….

Hall back to Chelsea?

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle will not entertain offers for Hall and hope to keep hold of him.

“Newcastle are making efforts to keep Lewis Hall,” Brown said.

“If their aim is to be one of the biggest clubs in the country, competing in the Premier League and in Europe, they have to keep hold of their best players.

“They will be looking to build their team around players like Hall.

“He’s been brilliant this season and deserved a lot of credit for the work he has done, he’s come through a couple of injuries and got back to the top level.

“Now he’s in contention to be part of the England squad, a lot of that is down to how he’s played under Eddie Howe, so it would make sense to continue with that.

“I don’t think Newcastle will entertain offers for him unless something huge comes up, but even then, he’s such an important player for them.

“Whether it’s Chelsea being spoken about or any other team, I don’t think there’s a way Newcastle let him go this summer.”

In other news…

Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry were on Monday Night Football, and they completely took apart Chelsea’s efforts to defend on Saturday.

Two Chelsea players had poor games against Newcastle, and it’s clear that one of them needs to be dropped.
