Blues are slowing returning back to full strength as surprise face joins group
Chelsea welcomed both Reece James and Jamie Gittens back to training on Tuesday ahead of facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The pair were absent from the group on Monday, but on show for the opening session at the club’s Cobham training ground on Tuesday.
Gittens has been sidelined for more than a month with a hamstring injury, but is now back in contention.
James was an unused substitute during the nerve-wracking win over Wrexham in the FA Cup, but is expected to start against the French giants.
Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez were given the night off, and are also expected to return.
However, Estevao remains sidelined with a thigh injury of his own. Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confirmed last week that the young Brazilian has been able to take part in training, but is not yet ready for first-team action.
He told reporters: “We need to be really, really careful, given it was a hamstring injury. He just needs to clear a few more markers before we put him back in.”
One surprise face on show at Cobham on Tuesday was Levi Colwill, who has missed the entire season to date with a serious knee injury, and remains unlikely to feature this season.
However, joining his team-mates on Tuesday will have raised hopes of a return to action ahead of time, and with the World Cup looming in the summer.
Rosenior will provide a full fitness update on his squad upon arrival in Paris on Tuesday evening.
