Yesterday Fabrizio Romano and other top sources put out the information that Chelsea had all but wrapped up a deal to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
It has yet to be officially announced, but by all accounts the medical took place last night, and now it’s just a question of completing the deal.
That’s led to a lot of excitement among fans, who want to know what the new guy is going to bring to the Blues. The Daily Mirror have a really nice piece with Gitten’s former coach Ian Foster, who worked with the winger at England U-19 level. He was full of glowing praise for the Dortmund winger.

“He was a quiet boy but a joy to work with, really humble, open-minded and always up for the challenge. Jamie is a player that would never get disheartened if he wasn’t getting success,” Foster said.
“He’s going to be up against some of the world’s best full-backs in the Premier League next season and if he’s having a tough time, he won’t go missing. In fact, it will have the reverse effect, it will actually excite him.
“I think he’d be a wonderful addition to the Premier League, he’s got a vast amount of technical ability, skill plus the mindset to continue achieving great things.”
Gittens should be able to bring a lot of what Jadon Sancho did last season, but hopefully with more effectiveness in terms of direct dribbling.
Noni Madueke is a handy player but still hasn’t quite cut it against the very best teams. Gittens looks like he has the ceiling to go to a level above Sancho and Madueke.
