Chelsea head into Brentford clash with plenty to prove | OneFootball

Chelsea face Brentford in the Premier League at the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday.

The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City last time out, leaving them winless in their last two league fixtures.

Chelsea are one of the most entertaining sides in the division, given their offensive prowess and defensive frailties.

Moises Caicedo’s absence has contributed to Chelsea’s defensive weaknesses. Caicedo could return against Brentford, but his presence may not resolve their persistent defensive concerns.

The Bees’ ability to attack quickly, exploit space and threaten from set pieces makes defensive organisation important for Xabi Alonso’s side.

Chelsea cannot afford to give them opportunities while relying on their attack to get a victory. Their midfield needs to offer more protection to the defence.

The two full-backs also need to be more selective about when they push forward to improve Chelsea’s defensive shape and prevent them from becoming vulnerable in transition.

Chelsea must change their attacking set-piece structure as their current approach leaves them exposed, as was evident against Hull.

The Blues already boast one of the most potent attacks in the league, but must resolve their defensive struggles to become one of the most formidable sides in the division.

If Alonso can rectify Chelsea’s defensive flaws, they will be better placed to beat Brentford and ultimately achieve their goals for this season.
