News emerged last night that Chelsea are in the process of plotting a move to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

This means Juventus face competition in the attempts to sign Sancho, with the Italian side considering a loan deal while United would prefer to cash in on the player.

That doesn’t cut the mustard since Sancho is one of the club’s highest earners and he won’t play regularly this season.

The Telegraph believe Chelsea are interested in a swap deal for Sancho with Raheem Sterling part of the exchange.

Chelsea and Juventus have until Friday’s deadline to strike a deal for the winger who has flopped at United since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

It remains to be seen if United are interested in a swap deal involving Sterling, or any of Chelsea’s players for that matter. I wouldn’t say no to Cole Palmer.

Sterling unhappy at Chelsea

Having been left out of the Euro 2024 England squad, Sterling had been one of the first players back to prepare for Chelsea’s new campaign but he had been left out of the squad completely for the opening Premier League squad with Man City.

His preferred squad number 7 has been given to new signing Pedro Neto, and he was axed from their European squad. To make matters worse he is training alone.

Sterling’s representatives issued a statement after their client had been left out of the Chelsea squad to face City.

“Raheem Sterling is contracted to Chelsea Football Club for the next three years,” it read, as per The Athletic.

“He returned to England two weeks early to conduct individual training and has had a positive pre-season under the new coach, who he has developed a good working relationship with.

“He is committed, as ever, to delivering at the highest level for Chelsea FC and the fans, who he holds in high regard, and given his inclusion in official club pre-match material this week, our expectation was that Raheem would be involved in this weekend’s fixture in some capacity.

“As a camp, we have always had positive dialogue with, and assurance from, Chelsea FC in relation to Raheem’s future at the club, so we look forward to gaining clarity on the situation.

“Until then, we will continue to support Raheem’s desire to start the new season positively.”
