Chelsea identify Real Madrid midfielder as possible replacement for Enzo Fernandez – report | OneFootball

Real Madrid have been very active in the summer transfer window, bringing in as many as six signings to bolster the squad.

The club also appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager, with the hope that the Portuguese tactician can bring trophies back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

One position the team wanted to address this summer but failed to do so was midfield, with Bernardo Silva being the only signing who can play there.

The inconsistent performances of Eduardo Camavinga have continued for more than a season now, and he has not done much to convince the new manager so far.

Now, according to Ben Jacobs on TalkSport, the Frenchman has emerged as one of Chelsea’s options in the event Enzo Fernandez leaves Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League club are considering the 23-year-old as a potential replacement to restructure their midfield.

Real Madrid are said to be open to considering offers for Camavinga this summer if it suits their valuation.

However, the French international has been determined in his stance to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and prove his worth.

The London club would only move seriously for the France international if Enzo departs, meaning this is a deal still in the monitoring stage.

Real Madrid situation remains complicated

Camavinga’s position at Real Madrid is not entirely secure.

Mourinho has several midfield options available, including Fede Valverde, Bernardo and Aurelien Tchouameni, while Arda Guler is also expected to take on greater responsibility in deeper areas over time.

That competition has made Camavinga’s role less certain than in previous seasons.

At the same time, Real Madrid’s squad is already full, and departures are needed if the club wants to make further signings before the window closes.

A move could unlock Real Madrid’s market

That is why any serious Chelsea approach could become important.

Camavinga is one of the few players in the squad who could command a major fee while also creating a valuable first-team slot.

Mourinho still wants reinforcements in midfield and central defence, so a substantial sale could reopen possibilities that currently look blocked.

For now, though, there is not much on the negotiations front to suggest that Chelsea are progressing with this deal.

However, should Enzo leave and trigger a transfer domino effect, that could see Real Madrid potentially make another new signing this summer.

With around a week left in the summer transfer window, it remains to be seen whether the Blues make a concrete push for Camavinga and how Madrid respond to it.
