In a recent report, The Sun stated that Chelsea have identified Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers as a target. It has been claimed that the Blues are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English attacker this summer.
Rogers enjoyed a decent run of form at the West Midlands club as he was responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old registered 14 goals and earned 15 assists in 54 appearances for Aston Villa last season across all competitions.
The English talent did well to attempt 1.59 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League and kept 36.4% of his shots on target. He distributed the ball relatively well after making 73.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Villa Park will run out in the summer of 2030. Therefore, it would be difficult for the Blues to get a deal done for Rogers on the cheap in this transfer period.

Rogers is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some clever runs in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The English sensation can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals on the offensive end of the field. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a winger on either flank if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Rogers to add more firepower to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s frontline. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge next season. The English attacker will undoubtedly help the West London outfit challenge across all fronts in the future.
At 22, Rogers has got the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Thus, it is only logical for Chelsea to try and get a deal over the line for him before the end of this summer transfer window.
