Chelsea are interested in Bournemouth’s Alex Scott this summer as the Blues search for midfield reinforcement, according to The Guardian.

Chelsea are reportedly no longer opposed to selling Enzo Fernandez, and one of the players on their shortlist is Scott, who has caught the eye this season.

The Blues have scapegoated the Argentine for their midfield’s tactical imbalance. That, coupled with his ill-timed comments, has made him expendable.

Scott has played a pivotal role in setting the Cherries’ tempo this season as they bid to secure a European slot.

His progressive passing and carrying help dictate the pace of games.

The 22-year-old has bagged three goals and created three big chances in 32 Premier League appearances, attracting interest from Chelsea.

His performances have led to a call-up to the England national team, and if he keeps up this pace, he will likely be on the plane to the 2026 World Cup.

Scott can form a terrific partnership with Moises Caicedo at the base of the engine room.

However, any suggestion that the midfielder can replace Fernandez feels premature at best.

Fernandez operates on an entirely different level for Chelsea and Argentina when the right tactical blueprint is in place.

As a box-to-box midfielder, he consistently delivers 20+ goal contributions across a season, numbers Scott is yet to come close to matching.

Beyond that, Fernandez has already proven himself on the biggest stage, orchestrating games as a deep-lying playmaker en route to World Cup glory with Argentina.

That blend of elite production, tactical intelligence, and big-game pedigree is rare. It is something Chelsea cannot afford to sell.

Scott is an ‘amazing’ talent with room to grow, but he is still refining his output and influence at the top level.

Fernandez, by contrast, is already a complete midfielder who can dictate tempo, break lines, and decide matches.

Chelsea may be frustrated, but replacing a player of Fernandez’s calibre is no simple task. Few can step into his shoes. Scott, at this stage of his career, is not one of them.
