France’s run in the U20 World Cup, held in Chile showcased the next generation of talent coming through. One player who has particularly benefited from the tournament is AS Saint-Étienne’s Djylian N’Guessan (17), and according to a report from L’Équipe, the forward is attracting some high-level suitors.
N’Guessan currently plies his trade in Ligue 2 with Saint-Étienne. Although he has yet to make an appearance this season, he did make eight appearances in Ligue 1 last season and impressed during the U20 World Cup with Les Bleuets.
As per L’Équipe, the centre-forward is now attracting plenty of interest, notably from Chelsea. However, the Frenchman is also of interest to EFL Championship side Watford, as well as Inter Milan and Udinese, a partner club of Watford. These clubs have accelerated talks over the course of the U20 World Cup.
Chelsea, through their BlueCo owners, are particularly attentive to the French market and also have a partner club in the form of RC Strasbourg Alsace, where their younger talents can develop before being sold on to Chelsea.
