Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a club-record deal worth £117 million, making the England international the most expensive British player in football history.
The 23-year-old has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the option of a further 12 months, after choosing Chelsea ahead of fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Rogers arrives in west London following an outstanding spell at Villa Park, where he established himself as one of the league's brightest attacking talents. He scored 31 goals in 125 appearances for Unai Emery's side and played a key role in last season's Europa League triumph, while also helping Villa secure Champions League qualification.
The midfielder has also enjoyed a breakthrough on the international stage. Rogers featured regularly for England during the 2026 World Cup, starting the semi-final defeat to Argentina and providing the assist for Anthony Gordon's goal.
Chelsea's £117m outlay eclipses the club's previous transfer record, set when Enzo Fernandez joined from Benfica in 2023, and also surpasses the £116m Manchester City agreed to pay for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer, making Rogers the most expensive British player ever.
Rogers is expected to link up with Xabi Alonso's squad after Chelsea's pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
