John Terry was frustrated that he wasn’t considered as a caretaker option for the club after Enzo Maresca’s sacking at the start of the year.
Former Chelsea captain and club legend John Terry was asked on a golf Youtube channel this week about whether he was annoyed that he hadn’t been asked to fill in as a caretaker manager when Enzo Maresca was sacked in January.
Terry works in the academy as a player mentor, and was overlooked for the role, which went to Under-21s coach Calum McFarlane.

“[I was] not annoyed, probably more frustrated, because I was certainly part of that Under‑21s group that went over.
“So even if I didn’t take the team… Calum took the team, did really well, got a result out of the game. I feel like I should have been part of that.
“Now listen, people have got to make decisions. I love it when people make decisions and they go ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Clearly the ownership, or whoever made those decisions – the sporting directors – have gone ‘no’ not to include me, for whatever reason. I don’t know why.”
We can understand his frustration – he’s a club legend, he was in the building, and he’s got all the qualifications. It certainly would have been nice to at least have him in the group who were briefly promoted.
But really, JT has to get out there and manage someone to build his reputation, even if that means initially taking a role he thinks is beneath him.
If his credentials as a player aren’t getting the job done, he’ll have to prove it as a coach instead.
Another pundit has been speaking about the potential of Cole Palmer leaving Chelsea, and says that they club would consider selling anyone at the right price.
Liam Rosenior claimed his side conceded thanks to an individual error on Saturday – but wouldn’t say whose it was. Jon Obi Mikel wasn’t a fan of this, telling the coach to name and shame, or say nothing at all.
