New Blues boss was thrilled with his side’s performance against Wolves
Liam Rosenior heaped praise on Chelsea’s hat-trick hero at Wolves as he called Cole Palmer “unstoppable when he’s at his best”.It has been a difficult season for Palmer on an individual level as he has managed a persistent groin injury, but he was on fine form on Saturday afternoon as he hit a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Molineux, scoring twice from the penalty spot and again from open play in the opening 38 minutes.
His goals meant Rosenior was also able to give him some much-needed rest, replacing him with Alejandro Garnacho on the hour mark.
The new Chelsea boss, who has now won all four of his Premier League matches in charge, said he was pleased with the team’s performance - not just Palmer’s.
“I don’t want him to change, that’s for sure,” said Rosenior of Palmer. “We changed the system a bit for the first time in the first half.
“Obviously Cole gets three goals, but some of our football was everything I wanted to see. He was a part of that.

“We know what a world-class player he is. He’s played a lot of football over the last year with not much rest. But when he’s at his best he’s unstoppable. I’m delighted to be working with him.”
Asked whether performances like his showing against Wolves are what is needed if Palmer is to go stratospheric, Rosenior reiterated: “He doesn’t need to change. When he’s fully fit, fully firing, he’s a magnificent footballer.
“But when you’re at this club with the scrutiny — which I’m starting to learn myself — you have to block out the noise and remember what a good footballer you are.
“I love working with him. He loves being here. Hopefully he can enjoy it between now and the end of the season because it will help him on the pitch.”
Wolves boss Edwards parked his disappointment at his own team’s performance to weigh in on Palmer’s quality.
He quipped: “Not sure I like that lad very much. He’s scored against me before. He’s a special, special footballer.”
