Chelsea’s skipper could be back in action next week
Liam Rosenior has issued an injury update on captain Reece James ahead of Chelsea’s match against Leeds on Tuesday.
The Blues won 3-1 at Wolves on Saturday afternoon thanks to a hat-trick from Cole Palmer but were without James for the second match due to a knock the Englishman has been carrying.
James did “modified” training on Thursday and running on Friday but was not quite ready to make the trip to Molineux.
But Rosenior believes James can be available for Tuesday night’s meeting with Leeds at Stamford Bridge.
“Reece, he's so close and he should be fit for Tuesday,” Rosenior said post-match on Saturday.
“I know I said that today, but honestly, at the moment with the games that we've got, everything is day by day.
“He's really, really close. There's not a major problem at all and it'll be great to have him available for these on Tuesday.”
Rosenior added: “To be honest, Reece was out running yesterday. That just wasn't right and it's not right again. We're still in the midst of a really, really difficult period of games.
“It's just a knock. It's pain management issue. The amount of games that we've got hopefully comes back fully fit, fully rested for Tuesday.”
