Chelsea are reported to have made contact with the representatives of AS Roma’s Manu Koné (25) to sound out the possibility of a potential transfer before the transfer window closes, according to Foot Mercato.
In their search for a player to strengthen their midfield and compensate for the likely departure of Enzo Fernández (25), who is reported to be close to joining Manchester City, the Blues are said to have made the Frenchman one of their top targets. This pursuit is running in parallel with their interest in Lamine Camara (22), a deal which could ultimately prove more complicated than expected.
Also being tracked by Real Madrid and several other Premier League clubs, Koné – who is under contract with Roma until 2029 – is reportedly valued by the club’s management at around €55m. The Italian club, which is keen to keep its player, is said not to have received any offers for him as yet.
Having joined the Giallorossi two years ago, Koné quickly established himself as a key player in the Roman squad. Making 37 appearances in all competitions last season, the French international (19 caps) proved decisive on five occasions, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
