Over the past few days, there has been a lot of noise surrounding Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, following his exclusion from the starting lineup for the game against Kairat Almaty.

Speculations soon circulated suggesting that the Uruguayan had refused to play at right-back leading to him not getting any minutes on the night – claims that both the player and Real Madrid have categorically denied since.

Nevertheless, the situation has seemingly caught the attention of teams in the Premier League.

Top teams show interest

Indeed, according to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, there is significant interest in the Premier League regarding how matters progress between Valverde and Real Madrid.

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are the Premier League clubs currently the most interested in Valverde, with the teams even considering a January move depending how the situation unfolds.

No intention to part ways

The 27-year-old Valverde is under contract with Real Madrid until 2029. At present, the Spanish capital giants have no intention of letting him go, and the player himself does not appear to be considering a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Valverde made his commitment to Real Madrid clear in the statement he issued earlier this week after the rumours about his dissent began to circulate.

“People can say many things about me, but under no circumstances can they say that I refuse to play,” he stated.

“I have given everything and more for this club, I’ve played while fractured, injured, and I’ve never complained or asked for a break.”

Continuing, Valverde added: “I’ve left my heart and soul in this club and I will continue to do so, even if sometimes it’s not enough or I’m not playing as I’d like.

“I swear on my pride that I will never give up and will fight until the end, playing wherever I’m needed.”

Having not featured in the midweek game, Valverde is expected to return to the starting lineup for Real Madrid in tomorrow’s game against Villarreal, and not as a right-back.
