Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has often found himself on AC Milan’s radar, and despite formerly being on Inter’s books, he has admitted to being a Milanista.

When it comes to Italian talent in midfield, Milan are synonymous. Andrea Pirlo, and Gennaro Gattuso lead the way for the past, and in the future, the Rossoneri hope that Kevin Zeroli could become a great.

Therefore, a young Italian midfielder would not be ridiculed for admiring the domestic and international names that have represented the Diavolo in the middle third, even if he did play for Inter at youth level, and this is the case for Casadei.

In an interview with Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com), Casadei spoke about his current situation and his idols.

Role…

“All-rounder? I like the term, yes. In this role, I have to play two phases: the building, offensive phase and the breaking, defensive phase. My athletic ability helps me to play the two parts well.”

Maresca…

“When I saw Maresca arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer I was excited. We already knew each other because he was my coach in the first six months of last season at Leicester City.”

Goals…

“I want to become an important player for Chelsea. I will always give my best, my best, working hard in training to keep improving and accumulate minutes.”

The mercato…

“The market rumours about Napoli, Milan and even Juve? After talking to the coach, I was 100 per cent sure that the decision to stay would be the best one. Maresca told me what he thought, I had no doubts.

“I stayed here without considering possible loans. Nor do I currently think so for the coming winter market. I couldn’t be more proud to play for Chelsea. The spirit of competition was one of the reasons why I decided not to leave.”

Inspired by Milnkovic-Savic…

“The comparisons to Milinkovic-Savic, Rodri and Ballack? I’m flattered, I was inspired by the Serbian now in Arabia. We share the same role and physical characteristics: I am 1.90 metres tall and weigh 88 kilos. But I have a long way to go.”

Milan and Kaka…

“As a child, I had Kaká as an idol and I used to support AC Milan. However, I became a professional and my first team in Serie A was Inter, with whom I have no grudge against being transferred.”

Italy…

“Every Italian footballer dreams of wearing the shirt of the national A team. You have to deserve it. With work and humility. Now I play in the Under-21 team. And I watch Pisilli, Daniel Maldini, and Gabbia called up by Spalletti for the first time. Beautiful…”

Given the previous links, it would not come as a surprise if Milan still have an interest in the midfielder, and with suggestions that the club will look to further strengthen in the area, Casadei could fulfil a dream.
