Chelsea ‘most likely to do a deal’ for Kerim Alajbegovic as Ernest Poku ‘set for’ England | OneFootball

Chelsea are being viewed as favourites to land Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic, who has been linked with Sunderland. The Telegraph reports Chelsea are ‘most likely to do a deal’ with Leverkusen, with Xabi Alonso said to be looking to raid his old club.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina teenager featured in all four World Cup matches in North America and scored in a 3-1 win over Qatar. Sunderland were among the clubs monitoring his progress.

Sunderland have made only one signing so far, Belgium international Thomas Meunier on a two-year contract after leaving Lille, as they prepare for a maiden Europa League campaign.

Bild claims Leverkusen have taken a surprise turn and are now open to talks over Ernest Poku, a winger linked with Sunderland and Nottingham Forest. The 22-year-old produced six goals and ten assists across 49 appearances last season.

Leverkusen are said to be prepared to sell the Netherlands Under-21 international, capped 21 times, for around £22m. Bild adds that Poku is ‘set for a move to England’ before the window closes in early September.
