Chelsea are reportedly viewed as favourites to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic, who has previously been linked with Sunderland. Leverkusen are also said to be open to talks over Ernest Poku, with an England move mooted this summer.

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are most likely to do a deal for Alajbegovic. Meanwhile, Bild claims Leverkusen have changed stance on Poku, are ready to open talks, and that he is set for a move to England.

Sunderland have made one addition so far, Belgium international Thomas Meunier on a two-year deal after leaving Lille earlier this summer.

Alajbegovic, a Bosnia and Herzegovina teenager, featured in all four of his country’s World Cup games in North America and scored in a 3-1 win against Qatar.

Poku, 22, produced six goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances last season and had been expected to figure in Leverkusen’s campaign. The report adds the 21-times capped Netherlands Under-21 winger could be allowed to leave for around £22m, with Sunderland and Nottingham Forest among the clubs linked. It also says a move to England is set before the window closes in early September.
